The challenge

Film educators had no central, navigable home for their material — lessons and resources were scattered and hard to maintain, leaving teachers without a credible platform to point students and peers to, and no sustainable way to fund keeping it up.

What I built

Designed a curriculum platform structured around how film is actually taught — lessons organized into thematic cycles, a blog for teaching essays, and a curated film-reference collection, with IB Film supported as a specialist strand.

Built it bespoke in Next.js with a real subscription model — free sample lessons, and paid tiers unlocking the full library and downloadable teacher resources — so the platform funds its own upkeep.

Wired role-based access and billing end-to-end so paid access, free previews, and partner-organization access all work correctly without manual gatekeeping.

Handed the team a custom admin content system so educators publish and reorganize lessons without touching code.

The result

A bespoke, teacher-run curriculum platform that gives film educators a credible, well-organized home for their material and a working subscription model to sustain it. Mobile speed score climbed from 58 to 91 and desktop to 99, layout shift was eliminated (0.01 → 0), and SEO and best-practices both hit a perfect 100 — all measured against the old teachingibfilm.com build.
